At 5:30 p.m., in neighborhoods throughout Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Westminster, English Language Learner families board yellow school buses that will take them to a place where they can build the skills that will lead to their great future. These families are headed for the Twilight Education Project on the campus of Golden West College. There, they learn the language and life skills that they need to succeed. The Twilight Education Project removes the typical barriers to services: it’s FREE, takes place after work hours and provides transportation and child care. This year, more than 200 children and adults will have the opportunity to learn in the program’s supportive atmosphere.

Three nights a week, school-age children receive tutoring in English literacy, get homework help, have computer lab access, and participate in enrichment and mentoring activities. Their younger siblings participate in the Club’s preschool program, which focuses on English literacy and school readiness. Just a few feet away, parents head to their own college classrooms to learn Community Based English, a curriculum that helps them gain proficiency in speaking and reading language associated with safety, medical care, transportation and work.

Through the award-winning Twilight Education Project, whole families are learning and getting on the path to a great future!
